Self-compassion allows us to see our experiences, ourselves and others with greater kindness and curiosity.  We see our challenging experiences in the light of a “common humanity”.   We recognize what is going on around us and within us.  We then remind ourselves that we are all in this together and that many people have the same challenges as I am having right now.  We allow ourselves to just be with an experience.  This opens up space to allow us to accept where we currently are and that allows us the trust ourselves to move forward.

Self-compassion builds resiliency which allows us to handle the twists and turns of life with greater ease.

MICRO PRACTICE:  Follow these 3 breathing steps…

  1. Breathe to center yourself on our breath.
  2. Breathe to remind yourself of the common humanity – many people experience challenges like this.
  3. Breathe to regain focus in the present moment and remind yourself that you can trust your abilities.
